Cremated Cowboys

The Philadelphia Eagles are one of the hottest teams in football, they are currently on a four-game winning streak and had a chance to extend it to five games this afternoon. As they faced off with the Dallas Cowboys seeking their first win in Dallas in seven years. It took Philly awhile to get going, but once they finally found their rhythm, they dominated this game in all phases and beat Dallas 34-6.

The Eagles found their rhythm early in this contest, the defense recovered a fumble which set the offense up in great position to get their first touchdown of the game with a Jalen Hurts rushing touchdown. Hurts had it working throughout most of the game and even overcame turning the ball over twice in this contest.

He overcame a lot of adversity in this game and looked explosive throughout it. Hurts completed 14/20 passes, for 202-yards and completed two touchdown passes, and had one rushing touchdown. Since the bye week he has shown an impressive command of the offense, and it seems Kellen Moore is putting in more things into the game plan that he is comfortable running with. Hurts’ continued development as a passer and his ability to take care of the football, will continue to be important in helping Philly make a run in the postseason.

The Cowboys offense could not get anything going in this contest, despite the Eagles giving them multiple opportunities to score a touchdown in this game because of two turnovers.  The Cowboys could not score any touchdowns on those drives. They either turned the ball over which they did five times in this game or missed a wide-open CeeDee Lamb in the end zone which was great for the Eagles. It allowed them to find their rhythm in the game and their defense did just enough to keep Dallas out of rhythm.

Philly’s defense has been impressive since the bye week and Vic Fangio has been blitzing a lot more in these last few games. That has allowed the Eagles defensive line to impose their will on these contests. Their talent has been showing up and the opponent’s offensive line puts up little resistance against them, and if that keeps up for the rest of the season Philly will be a super bowl contender this season.

Zach Braun has been one of the biggest acquisitions of the offseason, he continues to make big plays for the Eagles. He forced a fumble today and is one of the surest tacklers on the defensive side. Howie Roseman should have him sign an extension as soon as they get back to Philly. The Eagles value consistent performers who are playmakers, and besides Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, no one has been more consistent than him this season. He could be a contender for the Pro Bowl if he continues his impressive play, and he will have a chance to show the country his skillset against the Washington Commanders on Thursday night.

The Eagles will now have a short week to prepare to play the Washington Commanders in Philly for Thursday Night Football. Philly will need to continue to take care of the football and stay balanced on the offensive side. Some of their biggest plays during this game were made because of the run game and if that continues the Eagles offense will continue to put up numbers against the Commanders. Additionally, on the defensive side the Eagles will need to continue to tackle well and not give the Commanders receivers any room to make a big play. Washington’s offense is looking for the big plays and if they can slow their explosive offense down. The Eagles will have a chance to get their eighth win of the season in the Linc on Thursday night.
