The Philadelphia Eagles were riding high after beating the Washington Football Team on Tuesday night. They faced a well-rested New York Giants squad who was looking to sweep the season series. Philly had other plans as they used a second-half offensive explosion to beat the Giants 34-10.
The game did not start out well for the Eagles. They played like a team that played four days ago. They were missing easy completions, dropping passes and interceptions, and missing defensive assignments. Philly did not have it in the first half of this game. They had points taken off the board thanks to some stupid penalties as well. The Giants could not take advantage of the miscues as Philly’s defensive unit stifled them. They only gave up three-points despite the miscues.
On playing again after a short week, “Yeah I think, you know with how our schedule has been… Wednesday being double walkthroughs. This week wasn’t really a shock to us. It was kinda the same routine, we just didn’t have a Monday, Tuesday… So it wasn’t as big of a shock to us… We came out of the last game healthy and we were ready to go,” said Eagles Linebacker Alex Singleton.
The Eagles made the Giants pay for not taking advantage of them. As they forced a turnover and immediately scored a touchdown to take the lead. On the next drive they got a punt return to midfield which led to a field goal, and on the next drive they went straight down the field and scored another touchdown. Before the Giants could even settle down, they were down by 17. The Jalen Hurts completed another touchdown pass to Lane Johnson which was just the cherry on top of this offensive explosion. New York had no answers for what the Eagles were doing.
The Eagles will now get a full week to prepare for a rematch with the Washington Football Team next Sunday afternoon. Every game now for Philly is a playoff game as they need to win these next two games if they want to make the playoffs. Additionally, they will need Jalen Hurts to continue to make three to four difference maker plays to keep the Eagles offense on the field and get them to the post season.
