Slayed Saints

By: Kylan Watson

The Philadelphia Eagles were riding high after beating the Denver Broncos last week. Philly faced a hungry New Orleans Saints squad that was looking for a victory. Philly used an offensive explosion from the ground to slay the Saints 40-28.

It started out well for the Eagles they were able to go right down the field and take full advantage of the fact the Saints had no answers for their rushing attack. They got 244 rushing yards in this game and that kept New Orleans defense on the field. Philly was able to take full advantage of their defense. Jalen Hurts rushed for three touchdowns, passed for 147 yards, and completed 13/24 passes. He had another stellar performance against the Saints. He was in a zone, whether it was completing a timely pass down the field on third down or rushing for the first down. The Saints had no answers for him.

Despite the offensive explosion from Hurts. The Saints continued to hang tough throughout this game. At one-point they had the Eagles on the ropes and had a chance to cut the lead down to six before half-time. However, Darius Slay was able to pick-off Saints QB Trevor Siemian and take it to the house. The Saints could not recover. They were able to cut the lead to 11 late in the fourth quarter, but Hurts scored his third touchdown of the day and iced the game.

Philly will now prepare to face the New York Giants next Sunday afternoon. They will need another impressive performance in all phases of the game. If they want to keep the Giants offense in check and get their sixth win of the season.
