The Philadelphia Eagles currently have a 7-1 record, this is the best record in the National Football League (NFL). The Eagles front office led by General Manager, Howie Roseman decided to make a trade for Dolphins Running back, Jay Ajayi. Ajayi is a top running back in the NFL. With the addition of Ajayi, the Eagles now have a dynamic running back duo with Ajayi and LeGarrette Blount, and the Eagles have sent a message to the rest of the league that they are serious about winning a championship.
The Eagles traded a 2018 4th round draft pick for Ajayi.
Ajayi is one of the top running backs in the NFL, Ajayi was the first NFL player to rush for 200 yards for four straight games, and he breaks a lot of tackles. Ajayi is a downhill runner who also can catch. His addition automatically makes him the number one option at the running back position for the Eagles.
This trade will be very good for Ajayi who gets to run behind one of the top offensive lines in the league in Philadelphia. Ajayi ran behind one of the worst offensive lines in the league in Miami. Ajayi had only been averaging 74 total rushing yards in his last two games. Ajayi should be set up for a big second half of the 2017-2018 NFL season running behind the best offensive line in the league.
Ajayi did have knee surgery during the offseason, but the Eagles with one trade have secured a running back of the future and now have a dynamic one-two punch at running back, and all it cost them was a 2018 4th round draft pick.
The Eagles are hoping that Ajayi can develop a great relationship with Blount and Wentz, and help cement the Eagles as Super Bowl contenders.
