The Philadelphia 76ers picked up their second win of the season against the Washington Wizards on Wednesday, November 16, 2016. The Sixers were not expected to win this game while resting star player and leading score Joel Embiid. However, Jahlil Okafor and the rest of the Sixers had other ideas as the Sixers picked up their second home win of the season.
The 76ers were led by Okafor who scored 19 points, grabbed five rebounds, and recorded two assists. Okafor was the Sixers leading scorer. Okafor also had help from Forward Dario Saric, who scored 13 points, grabbed 12 rebounds, and recorded one assist. Okafor and Saric really had a chance to shine in this game without Embiid.
Okafor is still on a minutes restriction because he is still recovering from a knee surgery, he had over the off season. When Okafor gets off the minutes restriction the Sixers will be a force to be reckoned with. Embiid took this game off because the Sixers have a primetime matchup tonight at 8 pm Eastern Standard Time, with the Minnesota Timberwolves. Embiid is also on a minutes restriction and is not playing back to back games because the Sixers are being cautious with him as he is also coming off of a foot injury which contributed to him missing two years of his playing career.
The Sixers are a team that fans and NBA experts must be patient with, as the Sixers are about another year to three years away from being a great team. The Sixers are still missing 2016 number one pick Ben Simmons, who will most likely make his NBA debut in January or February. The Sixers will have a very young core of players who are very good, and it will be an exciting time to be a Sixers fan in a couple of years.
The Sixers currently, are 2-9 and are no longer the worst team in the NBA that distinction belongs to the New Orleans Pelicans.
