Blunted Sixers

The Philadelphia 76ers were riding high after beating the Miami Heat on Saturday night. They faced the Washington Wizards who were looking to avenge an early season loss to them. They got their win back as they were able to blow the Sixers off the floor 117-98.

The Wizards jumped on the Sixers early in the game. They were not hitting their shots early on and were clearly effected by this being the third game in four days. They were missing shots that they usually make and were slow on the defensive end as well. That allowed the Wizards to attack the Sixers on all sides of the ball.

The Wizards had their full squad available for the first time this season against Philly, and it showed tonight. Kyle Kuzma (15-points), Bradley Beal (13-points), and Thomas Bryant (15-points) combined for 43-points. They took full advantage of some lack defensive play by the Sixers and made them pay for giving them any space. This game was won in the second quarter for the Wizards they scored 38-points and Philly had no answers for them.

Missing Danny Green, Matisse Thybulle, and Shake Milton finally caught up to Philly as their bench just did not have enough horses to compete with the depth of the Wizards. They only put up 27-points to the Wizards 63-points. Defensively they fell apart. The Sixers will need to find a way to play better team defense especially with Thybulle being out at least another week.

The Sixers will now prepare for the Orlando Magic on Wednesday. They will need to play better team defense and find a way to get more balanced scoring from somebody not named Joel Embiid. He scored 32-points tonight and was the main engine on offense for Philly. However, Philly will need to get more people involved if they want to get their 26th win of the season and possibly reach the fourth spot or higher in the wide-open Eastern conference.
