Joel “The Process” Embiid was selected to his first NBA All-Star team on Thursday, January 18th ,2018. Embiid has been a stand out for the Philadelphia 76ers since, his debut last year. Embiid is the cornerstone of a resurgent 76ers squad, who is looking to prove that the process is over in Philly.
Embiid did not have much time to process his All-Star selection as he and the 76ers played the Boston Celtics last night on the road. Embiid played like an All-Star as he scored 28 points, and grabbed 16 rebounds. His monster effort was rewarded with an 89-80 victory over the Celtics.
The Celtics were down a scorer due to Kyrie Irving’s injury. However, they put up a valiant effort against the 76ers.
The Sixers were close to blowing another big lead against a playoff team. Closing out games is still proving to be one of the most difficult parts of the season for them. These young players continue to commit stupid fouls and drive killing turnovers.
The 76ers are in desperate need of a closer or a leader that can help them close out games. Embiid was able to answer the call, last night for the Sixers. He hit some big shots towards the end of the fourth quarter. He also really took a leadership role during the game.
The 76ers now have victories against two of the top three seeds in the East. They beat the Celtics last night, and beat the Raptors on Monday.
The 76ers have a 21-20 record and currently are the 8th seed in the Eastern Conference. Embiid is a large reason why the 76ers have a chance at their first playoff appearance since 2010. He has proven to be an asset to the team. If his current level of play continues, he can be a pivotal part of the 76ers becoming a championship contender again. Embiid will not just be an All-Star, he will be a monstar!!!
