At 2:43 pm this afternoon, another former NFL Player lost his life, because of a road rage shooting in New Orleans, LA. The former NFL player who lost his life was former Jets and USC Trojans running back Joe McKnight.
McKnight was standing outside of his car and got into an argument with 54 year-old Ronald Gasser. Gasser, shot McKnight while he was standing outside of his car. McKnight is the second NFL player to lose his life due to road rage. Former Saints defensive end Will Smith was also shot and killed in a similar incident.
The question that needs to be asked now is why these NFL players are losing their lives due to road rage incidents in New Orleans? It is also important to point out, that in this incident McKnight was black and Gasser is white. Now more information needs to come out before, anyone says race played a factor.
We are living in some trying times, where it does not take much for someone to decide to take away another human being’s life. Gasser relinquished his weapon, and stayed to talk to police he was then arrested and is in police custody. Maybe NFL players should stay away from driving in New Orleans, since driving in the city seems to be more dangerous than playing on a football field these days.
