Bills vs. Jets Game preview

By: Kylan Watson

Tonight in a Thursday Night Football primetime match-up it will be the battle of New York, as the New York Jets face the Buffalo Bills. In an AFC East match up that could be for second place in the division. Both teams are looking for redemption after opening weekend losses to the Chicago Bears and the Indianapolis Colts respectively.

Both teams have high expectations. The Jets missed the playoff last year but won ten games.  This is Todd Bowles second year as a head coach, and the Jets are expected to make the playoffs. After last week’s loss to the Bears, a lot of people are questioning the Jets secondary. The secondary was a strong part of the Jets defense since resigning star cornerback Darrell Revis. However, Revis had a terrible game defensively against Bengals star wide receiver AJ Green on Sunday, September 11th, 2016. Green caught the ball twelve times for 180 yards and caught two touchdown passes.  On one particular play Revis was burned by AJ Green for a 54 yard Touchdown pass.  The Jets are looking to rebound defensively against the Bills who run the ball more than pass.

The Bills lost a heartbreaking game to the Colts on Sunday afternoon. They lost the game by one point.  The Bills like the Jets are expected to compete with the Patriots for AFC East supremacy. The Bills have star running back LeSean McCoy and star Wide Receiver Sammy Watkins. The Bills have a good offense and a very good defense.  However none of that was on display in the opening weekend lost. They are also looking for a big game from the defense, Watkins, and McCoy in order to come out victorious on Thursday night.

This is a big game; not only in the AFC East, but this game can also have a big effect on the playoff pictures. I know it is early, but with the Patriots in the same division, one of these teams will be in second place and battling for a wildcard position. So it is very important for one of these teams to make it to 1-1 and avoid a 0-2 start to the 2016 NFL season.
